Denis Emile LaCroix's Obituary
Denis E. LaCroix, age 84 and a resident of Riva, MD since 1988, passed away September 18, 2023 at home under hospice care, surrounded by family.
Denis was born in Lawrence, MA on May 9, 1939 and moved to the Baltimore-Washington area in 1964. Denis is survived by his wife of 36 years, Linda Hardesty LaCroix, his two children of his first marriage -- daughter Denise L. (Ken) Meissner and son Norman E. (Laura) LaCroix, his youngest brother Lucien Lacroix, five grandchildren, two great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and other loved ones.
Denis’ professional career as an analytic chemist for the U.S. Government spanned 40 years, 38 of which was with the U.S. Department of Agriculture. He also enjoyed refereeing basketball and soccer for 35 years and substitute teaching in the Anne Arundel County public school system for nearly 15 years after retiring from Government service.
Throughout, Denis’ first love and highest priority was his family, located here in Maryland, New England, across the United States and elsewhere. His love and skill of fishing was his other lifelong passion that he pursued vigorously and with immeasurable joy. Including, as a member of the Free State Fly Fishers Club of Davidsonville, MD.
A celebration of life program will be held at Lasting Tributes Funeral Care, 814 Bestgate Road, Annapolis 21401 on Saturday, May 11, 2024, for which additional details will be made available.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Denis’ name to the Annapolis Light House, Inc. charitable organization (https://annapolislighthouse.org) or to another charity of your choice.
