Daisey (Josephine) Elizabeth Abel's Obituary
Daisey Elizabeth Brown Abel entered into Eternal Rest on June 26, 2024 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a brief illness. Daisey was born October 11, 1938 in Davidsonville, Maryland to the late Rachel and George Brown.
As youngest of the five children, her father affectionately called her "Baby". In her younger years, her family nicknamed her "Josephine". Daisey attended Carver Elementary School in Gambrills. She attended Wiley H. Bates High School, had to drop out, but later received her GED from Bay College.
For 16 years Daisey was employed at the Community Action Agency in Annapolis where she held various positions and received several Awards of Appreciation. During her younger years, she was a member of the Davidsonville United Methodist Church.
She was a jolly and loving person who enjoyed reading the Bible. As time grew, she acquired a love for crocheting, playing spades, and excelled in home decorating and had a green thumb to be admired. She could do wonders with house plants! On October 9, 1993, she married Thomas Julian Abel. Even though Daisey never had any children of her own, she raised DeWayne McDonald from infancy as her son.
Daisey has been a long-term resident of Fairfield Nursing Home since December 2015.
She will be greatly missed by her friends and family. Her husband, Thomas Abel; her sisters, Ann and Hazel; brothers, Earl and Stanley Brown, preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn her son, DeWayne McDonald; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her her devoted friend, Marguerite Ireland.
