Cynthia Ianthus Davis' Obituary
Cynthia I. Davis of Odenton, Maryland, passed away suddenly on November 26, 2025. Cynthia was born in Danville, Virginia, on February 9, 1948, to the late Moses and Bessie J. Poindexter, who she now joins in heavenly peace. At an early age, Cynthia accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. Cyn, as she was affectionately known, spent her childhood and early adulthood in Danville before moving to Maryland.
Cyn enjoyed traveling and reading, listening to music, watching the Washington Commanders, and dancing, especially with her cousin Freddy. Most of all, she dedicated herself to her family and friends.
Cyn is survived by her daughter, Waynette Shellman. She loved her one son, Wayne Roysel Davis, Jr., who preceded her in death. She also cherished and loved her three granddaughters, Shardae, Simone, and Sydney Shellman, as well as one grandson who also preceded her in death, Sancio Maurice Shellman, Jr.
Cynthia is survived by her brother, Cliff “Val” Motley (Sonia) of Yorktown, VA and sister, Dorsell Irvin of Danville, VA. Cynthia was preceded in death by her older brother, Moses Leon Poindexter, who gave his life in service during the Vietnam War. She is survived by three nieces, Veronica Dixon (Jimmy) of Fairborn, GA, and Noelle and Selena Motley of Alexandria, VA; nephew, Travis Irvin of Danville, VA, and nephew, Robert “Albie” Irvin, Jr., who preceded her in death.
On December 3, 2025, Wayne R. Davis joined Cyn in eternity, and a joint service will be held in their honor.
