Cora Helena Wright's Obituary
Cora Helena Wright (Lana) of Severna Park, Maryland was one of eight children. Born to the late Roland and Lillian Carroll, Lana departed this life on December 12, 2014 at the home of her loving son, Vincent, at the age of 78.
She was the wife of the late Henry Wright and a devoted mother to James Wallace, Yvonne Melton, Vincent Wallace, and Terrance Coates.
Lana attended Wiley H. Bates High School in Annapolis, Maryland. She was employed at Fort Meade in the late 70’s and then was employed by Fred Musser until she became ill. She was a hard-working woman who helped to raise all of her grandchildren.
Everyone who knew Lana knew how much she loved her children. She didn’t care if anyone spoke badly about her, but if anyone said anything about any of her kids, she didn’t bite her tongue.
Lana loved the Lord. Many times, she would say, “God knows what’s best. I put my life in his hands.” She was a member of Mount Calvary United Methodist Church. After the passing of her mother, she became a faithful communion steward. She loved attending church and attending all church functions, especially at Mt. Zion. Christmas was Lana’s favorite holiday; Lana loved to eat crabs, finish word searches, watch “Law and Order,” and anything else that came on Channel 50.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories: 3 sons, James Wallace (Karen), Vincent Wallace, and Terrance Coates (Angela); daughter, Yvonne Melton; 3 sisters, Barbara Dickey, Norrine Smith (Joe), and Diane Carroll; 2 brothers, Roland Carroll, Jr. and Gilbert Carroll (Brenda) special friends, Edith Murray, Janice Green, Marie Kess, and Lilly Best; 9 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, extended family, Fred Musser, Sara Sheffield, Samantha Ficksman, adopted son Fritz and family, and a host of other family and friends.
Lana was predeceased be her sister Fredericka Tubaya and brother Joseph Carroll.
