Claudia Korrot's Obituary
Claudia Korrot was born Claudia René on January 23, 1949 in Providence Rhode Island. She was the daughter of Norman H. and Margaret René and elder sister to Norman H René Jr. Claudia graduated high school and went on to Lasell College.
She met her husband of 44 years Denny in Cherry Hill, NJ and later wed in December, 1969. Claudia and Denny had two girls, René and Jennifer, and lived in New Jersey until 1988. Claudia, Denny and the girls moved to Annapolis, Maryland in 1988. Claudia worked as a manager at Nordstrom in Annapolis for over 15 years.
Claudia was a fabulous mother, and became a grandmother (Grammy) to Jeremy in October, 1996. This became the best time of her life. It then got even better with the births of Jordan, Makenzie, and Jaiden. Claudia’s life revolved around her grandchildren. When she was diagnosed with cancer in 2001, she was “never sick” when it came to the grandkids.
Claudia was told in 2001 that she had no more than two years to live, but she had not intentions of listening to that. Claudia spent the last twelve years fighting to be here for her grandkids. She would get released from the hospital and then force Denny or Rene to take her to field hockey, lacrosse, track, talent show, graduations, Taekwon-Do, and more. She never missed an event. She would go to California to visit Jennifer and her kids no matter how she felt. She was an enormous part of her children and grandchildren’s lives.
She spent 44 years with her love Denny. The truly lived the marriage vows “for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in heath”. Right to the very end she wanted to make sure that Denny was going to be ok. Denny took care of Claudia right up until the moment she passed away. She passed away lying in bed with Denny, the only way she would have wanted to go.
Independent, strong, loving, hardworking, wife, mother, daughter, sister, Grammy, and friend is who Claudia was.
Rest now in peace.
