Charlotte Mesnik's Obituary
Charlotte was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, where she grew up with her older brother, David, and her younger sister, Mildred. She met and married Al Katkow of Baltimore who she met in Atlantic City with friends.
She was instrumental in organizing and developing a 44-home subdivision in Silver Spring in the 1950's where she and Al built their home and raised their three daughters. That community celebrated its 50th Anniversary with a big party of original neighbors and friends and new homeowners in 2004.
She was admired by all for her vitality and intelligence, completing The Washington Post crossword puzzle daily with no trouble. She and her husband, Bennie, started Ben Kay Carpets and ran their successful business for over twenty-two years in Suitland, MD. They found lots of time to travel worldwide and enjoyed dancing. Charlotte resided in Heritage Harbour in Annapolis where she had been since 1998 after moving from Crofton. She will be greatly missed by her family, who surrounded her with love every day during her illness. Donations are being accepted at National Neimann Pick Disease Foundation (NNPDF)in honor of Charlotte and her great grandson, Dillon Papier. Please indicate such on your check. More information is available on www.dillonsfight.org. Her family is extremely grateful for all the love and support from family and friends.
