Charles MacFee Wistar's Obituary
Charles (Chuck) M. Wistar, 76, died November 15 at home from complications following a stroke earlier in the summer. He was born in Plainfield, NJ, the son of Charles G. and Jean M. Wistar.
Chuck graduated from Lehigh University where he was class president and after a brief stint at IBM went on to be a self-described serial entrepreneur, having started a software company (Pentamation) with three other partners, holding the position of CEO at an educational startup, Bridges, and finally starting a yacht dealership and brokerage. Throughout his career he was known for his incisiveness, creativity, integrity and fairness.
Boating was always a part of Chuck’s life, from the summers at the Jersey shore on Long Beach Island to cruising trawlers from the Bahamas to Canada.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brother-in-law, Robert Goodell. He is survived by his wife, Andrea; his son, Roger P. Wistar, daughter-in-law, Marcie Wistar, two grandsons, Benjamin and Andrew Wistar; sister, Nancy W. Goodell, nieces Margaret G. Beach and Kathryn G. St. Clair; and stepson, Ian Morris.
There will be a Celebration of Life service later in January. Memorial contributions can be made to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation and Hospice of the Chesapeake.
