Charles Bowie Rose, Jr.'s Obituary
Charles Bowie Rose Jr. of Annapolis MD passed away peacefully at home on April 18, 2026. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 64 years, Lynn, two daughters, Margaret Cox (Lloyd) and Elizabeth Kramer (John), 4 Grandchildren: Matthew, Bo, Peyton, and William, as well as two younger sisters, Alexandra Rose and Candace Drake.
"Bowie", as he was known, was born and raised in Baltimore MD, and moved to Annapolis in 1968. There, he built a career as a Licensed Real Estate Broker and was active in Residential and Commercial sales for over 50 years. He was the President of Glenco Realty & Investment Company, Inc. He was a member and Realtor Emeritus of the National Association of Realtors, the Maryland Association of Realtors, and the Anne Arundel County Association of Realtors, serving on the Board of Directors and numerous other committees.
Despite facing significant vision challenges throughout his life, Bowie achieved success in business with quiet determination. He never complained or allowed his eyesight to be an excuse—he simply got on with it. Those who knew Bowie remember him as deeply loyal, and a gentleman who never sought the spotlight. A man of few words, he chose them carefully, and could be relied upon to offer honest, level-headed, and practical advice.
Bowie was an avid boater and loved spending time on the Chesapeake Bay. He served as a volunteer member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, providing urgent support to disabled vessels on the Bay. He was a Life Member at the Annapolis Yacht Club. He was also a member of the Miles River Yacht Club, where he served the Race Committee as a Mark Boat (and, the unofficial photographer for club events). Aside from boating, photography was a lifelong hobby and Bowie was known for his love of music, specifically the Big Band and Show Tune genres. Bowie also relished the company of the family's pet cats over many decades.
Funeral services will be private.
