Patience Menakaya
My name is Patience Menakaya and I am writing this tribute to Mr. Charles Freburger, who was one of my favorite clients at Arc of Central Chesapeake region.
I worked for him and with him for 4+ years. Mr. Charles knew what he liked and did not accept anything less. He was also very independent and liked to do things on his own. He loved his breakfast and loved his coffee black. He loved all things sports. It didn’t matter the team.
He wore the jerseys for Baltimore Ravens, Dallas Cowboys, Redskins, Steelers as well as the National Baseball league like the Baltimore Orioles. He loved the sports magazines, hats, keychains and sports bags. He carried the sport bags to work every day until his last days at Providence. He felt very proud of having and holding the sports wears, as well as talking about them and watching them on TV.
If you gave Mr. Charles a newspaper he would actually throw away other parts of the newspaper and only save the sports section. He was a very friendly and encouraging man. One day I wore a Raven’s shirt and he greeted me with a smile and said, “I like your shirt” I love Mr. Charles and he will be missed and forever will live in our thoughts. Rest in peace, Pops! Fondly, yours.
