Carolyn "Betty" Wehr's Obituary
Carolyn E. “Betty” Covington Wehr, departed this life on June 8, 2016 to be with her Lord. She was born September 27, 1924 in Snow Hill, Maryland to the late Samuel F. Covington and Carolina “Carrie” Swiggett. Betty was the youngest of three children, her sister, the late Lillian Bailey and her brother, the late Albert Covington.
Betty received her education in Snow Hill, Maryland. At an early age she attended Bates Memorial Methodist Church in Snow Hill, where she was later baptized. In 1941 she moved to Baltimore, where she stayed with her sister, Lillian. During WWII she was very active with the USO, providing a smile and support to the troops.
On July 30, 1949 she was married to the late Herman Wehr, they had a daughter, Karla and they moved to Carroll County. After Herman passed in 1961, she and Karla moved back to Baltimore to be closer to her mother and sister. In 1967 she moved to the Eastern Shore where she was an active member of the Easton Church of God. Betty lived there until 2009, when she was moved to Heritage Harbor to be closer to her daughter.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Karla Stewart Lathroum, Annapolis, MD; and son-in-law, William; two grandsons: Gregory, Stewart, Jr, St. Petersburg, FL and Joshua B. Stewart, Natchez, MS; two granddaughters-in-law; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter; a niece and nephew, and many other family and friends.
