Carol Steever's Obituary
Carol Hideko Steever, 72, passed away at Anne Arundel Medical Center in
Annapolis, MD on October 19, 2025.
Carol was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on December 5, 1952, the daughter of Terry
and Nancy Arakaki. Carol attended Kailua High School, followed by a Bachelor
of Science degree from the University of Hawaii. She later received a Computer
Science degree from George Mason University. During her career she worked at
Newbridge Networks, DBA and Harris Corp.
She married her college sweetheart, Gordon, on December 27, 1975. They moved
to Virginia in 1976 and later lived in Melbourne, FL, Severna Park, MD and
Annapolis, MD. They enjoyed boating and playing golf with friends. They were
both very active traveling across the world, as well as supporting their community
through volunteering at Maryland Hall. Some of Carol’s favorite places to travel
to included South Africa and the Galapagos Islands.
Carol was a “Mana Wahine” which translates in Hawaiian to a strong and resilient
woman. She overcame many obstacles in her life including several bouts with
cancer while always keeping a smile on her face and a determined attitude.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Gordon; her mother, Nancy Arakaki;
her brother, Terance Arakaki; her sister, Sandy (Les) Honda; as well as, two
nephews Joshua and Daniel Arakaki.
A Celebration of Life will be Lasting Tributes Funeral Care, 814 Bestgate Road,
Annapolis, MD 21401 on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 from 5-8 p.m.
