Bruce William Owen's Obituary
Bruce William Owen, 78, died peacefully at his home in Annapolis, Maryland, on April 20, 2017. He is survived by his wife of thirty-five years, Miranda Marsh of the home, his sister Kathleen Brackman of Denham Springs, Louisiana, and two stepsons, Marsh Munro of Palm Springs, California, and Sam Provost of Lubbock, Texas.
Born in Pulaski, Virginia, he lived in Salem, Virginia, as a child and received BS and MS degrees in Civil Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute before moving to Annapolis in 1982. He served in the Navy for eight years as an active officer and another twenty years in the Navy Reserve from which he retired as a Reserve Navy Captain.
He was very active in community erosion control projects along the Chesapeake Bay shoreline as well as the design and installation of a large community pool. A talented musician, he played in rock bands until he decided he was 'too old to be schlepping around that Hammond Porta-B and those damn Leslies'.
A memorial celebration will be held at a later date.
