Bettye Jean Ezeike, a beacon of kindness and generosity, departed from this world on December 6, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and unwavering faith. Born on August 30, 1955, Bettye's journey through life was a testament to the strength of the human spirit and the power of kindness. She passed peacefully with her children by her side, embodying the grace and serenity that marked her life.
A memorial service to honor and celebrate her extraordinary life will be held at Antioch Apostolic Church in Arnold, MD. Bettye's life was a living embodiment of the family's cherished scripture, Proverbs 3.6: "In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." Her unwavering faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, was evident in every aspect of her life. She lived by the belief that "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” – a sentiment beautifully expressed by Maya Angelou, and one that Bettye exemplified through her actions and interactions.
A quote that profoundly resonates with Bettye's essence is, "Be kind for everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about." Despite facing numerous challenges from her early years in the South, Bettye's heart remained a wellspring of kindness. She extended her warmth and generosity to everyone she encountered, even those who did not reciprocate her goodwill.
Bettye's spirit of giving knew no bounds. Whether it was through her time, wisdom, or resources, she was always ready to support those in need. Her selflessness was not confined by material wealth; she believed in giving whatever she could, a testament to her immense heart and soul.
Bettye is preceded in death by her father, Leon Moore, Sr., mother, Helen Moore, brother, Leon Moore, Jr., and sisters, Christine Moore, and Evelyn Moore-Dickerson. She is survived by her two daughters Kimmie (David) of Millersville, MD, Maureen of Katy, TX, son Charles (Tessa) of Colorado Springs, CO, and eight grandchildren, Natasia, Malayasia, Paul, Messiah, Blaire, Norah, Emilia, and James. She is also survived by four sisters, Mildred Price of Grand Rapids, MI; Queen (Walter) Dobbs of Hephzibah, GA; Tonnia (Darryl) Hawkins of McKinney, TX and Sheila (Paul) Adams of Cypress, TX; brother, LTC(Ret) Alvin (Jacky) Moore of Woodbridge, VA; and Sister-in-Law Beotha Moore of Pine Bluff, AR, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
