Barbara J. Schwarz's Obituary
Barbara Schwarz, 85, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born and raised in Lansdowne, Maryland, Barbara was one of three children. She graduated from Catonsville High School and began her career at the National Security Agency. She later devoted 39 years of dedicated service to the Maryland Senate, where she was deeply respected and admired.
Barbara was a devoted mother who chose to stay home to lovingly raise her children before returning to the workforce. She was married to her first husband, Bob, with whom she shared three children until his passing in 2001. Later in life, Barbara found love again and married Rawle Green in 2013.
Barbara was preceded in death by her daughter, Cathy Lynn.
She is survived by her loving children and their families: her daughter Deni and son-in-law Todd, who share a family of five children, Abby, Matthew, Barry, Elizabeth and Grace; and her son Rob, who has two children, Kane and Lexi. Barbara adored her grandchildren and was affectionately known as “Mimi” to all her grandkids and great-grandson, Jaxon.
She shared especially close bonds with her grandchildren, cherishing Sunday night phone calls, nail appointments with the girls, and Christmas shopping trips that always included a traditional lunch at California Pizza Kitchen.
Barbara is also survived by her older sister, Nancy, and her younger brother, Leroy.
Her life was rooted in service, faith, and community. She was actively involved in her church contributing her time and care to her community.
In May 2025, Barbara began a courageous journey with cancer, facing it with quiet strength and grace.
A service to celebrate Barbara’s life will be held at Eastport United Methodist Church. Visitation will take place from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. A luncheon will follow in the fellowship hall. Interment will take place at Meadowridge Memorial Park in Elkridge, Maryland. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation in Barbara's name to Opportunity Builders Inc. 8855 Veterans Hwy, Millersville MD 21108.
