Barbara Ann Etchison's Obituary
Barbara Ann Etchison (Age 87) formerly of Arnold, MD, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 28, 2023, at Arbor Terrace Waugh Chapel in Gambrills, MD. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Luther James Jr., and survived by her four children, Luther J. III (Karen), Keith (Janet), Steven and Diane (Bobby) Edwards, her brothers George (Myrtie) Musgrove and Michael (Kathy) Pilkerton and sisters Christina (Charlie) Moore, Donna (Kirby) Burch, Jo Anne Spencer and Jane (Levi) Gross. She was a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother of eight (Jennifer, Bridget, Sarah, Julia, Emily, Melissa, Michelle and Alex), and great-grandmother of eleven (Christopher, Nathan, Ben, Tim, Trinity, Annabelle, William, Rosalee, Kyla, Lainey, and Lee).
Barbara was born in Washington, D.C. and lived her entire life in Maryland. From her words at the age of 15, she wrote, “… I will be preparing myself for a career that just about all girls look forward to sometime in their life, that being of a wife and mother”. It can be stated with certainty for those of us touched by her “career choice”, that she was a HUGE success! Later in her life, she worked for and retired from Safeway at the main offices in Prince George’s County. She enjoyed reading, knitting, crocheting, quilting, and solving puzzles, and loved cooking and baking. Above all, she enjoyed time with her family.
A gathering will be held at Lasting Tributes Funeral Home in Annapolis, MD on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at 11am, followed by a Memorial Service at noon. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in her name to the Alzheimer's Association, https://www.alz.org/ , or Hospice of the Chesapeake, https://www.hospicechesapeake.org/ .
