Barbara Jean Dawson's Obituary
Barbara Jean Dawson, 90, went peacefully Home to be with her Lord on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, MD surrounded by her daughter and pastor. She will be greatly missed by all.
Barbara was born on September 28, 1931, in Clay, WV to Fonda McComas Hart Treible and Burl Hart. She grew up in Kanawha Falls, WV, and graduated from Gauley Bridge HS, Glenville State College, and University of MD. She had a Masters Degree in Education and taught in WV and MD. She retired from teaching in 1991 after teaching at Bates Jr High in Annapolis, MD from 1966 to 1991. She then worked at Kohls in Severna Park for 10 years and was a voter precinct official for many years until she was 88. She was a member of College Parkway Baptist Church. Mom loved her Lord, her family, her students, her country, and her community and neighbors. Her positive outlook on life was an inspiration and example for all. She was the glue that held the family together and she loved to tell the stories of old. She was a very devoted and loving mother and grandmother and had a huge generous and kind heart that touched many people.
She is survived by her daughter, Donna Hamrick of Annapolis, MD, her granddaughter Darcie Martin, and her brother-in-law (and his wife Carol), Leon Daugherty of Hurricane, WV as well as many nieces and nephews and their children. She also has many “sons and daughters” in her students, family, and friends.
She is preceded in passing by her husband Buddy Dawson, her daughter Robhyn Hamrick, her parents and her 6 sisters: June, Audrey, Ocie, Pat, Colleen, and Sandy.
All are welcome to attend her memorial service on Wednesday, September 28 to honor her life and show respect and love for this her sunset and for her first sunrise in Heaven. Until we meet again……love is eternal.
