Arturo Cazares' Obituary
Dr. Arturo Cazares, 68, passed away peacefully at his home in Bowie, MD on February 19, 2025.
Arturo was born in Michoacán, Mexico on October 5, 1956 as the eldest son of Ricardo and Aida Cazares. He treasured his early Jesuit education and graduated with honors from Chicago’s St. Ignatius College Prep School in 1975. Arturo went on to Yale University and graduated with honors in 1979. He received his medical degree from the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara and finalized his formal education with a Master’s in Public Health from George Washington University in 1989. While at the National Institutes of Health, he published federal White Papers ahead of their time, and then went on to have a distinguished experience with the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Arturo met the true love of his life, Stephanie, at Yale and the two were married May 17, 1980. They attended medical school together and he was supportive of her as she built up her practice in Greenbelt, MD. Arturo was an active man on the move. He loved golf, cloudy days, classic radio, timeless movies, and a good cigar. Arturo, without hesitation, always executed his selfless values to service others- most impressively, first and foremost, was to his family. This unwavering self-sacrifice allowed those dearest to him to realize and achieve their dreams and aspirations. Arturo can finally rest peacefully knowing he will never be forgotten and the values he believed in are forever secured to the Cazares name.
Arturo is survived by his wife of 44 years, Stephanie; sons Gabriel and Nicholas; his father Ricardo; brother Jorge; nephews Jorge and Manuel; and, one of his greatest sources of pride, four grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, charitable donations in his memory may be made to World Central Kitchen and American Diabetes Association.
