Arthur "Art" Deale Brady's Obituary
Arthur Deale Brady died on August 24, 2024 at the age of 69 due to complications caused by Multiple Sclerosis. Art was a family man who lived an incredibly full life in spite of his disability.
His family in Annapolis can be traced back more than 8 generations, with 5 generations of St. Mary’s Catholic Church parishioners. Art attended Central High School in London, England and later graduated from St. Mary’s High School and the University of Maryland. He worked in Annapolis as a maitre d' for 11 years and later as an underwriter at Nationwide Insurance on Riva Road for 15 years.
As a young man, Art traveled extensively throughout Europe. He met his wife, Regina Gutteck Brady, in Wiesbaden, Germany where they began a storybook romance across the Atlantic Ocean that resulted in 48 years of loving marriage. He was thankful for his large extended family, both in Germany and in the United States, and the many friends who he made throughout his life. Art loved playing card games of all sorts, often with his mother, Doris, and mother-in-law, Irene. He fondly remembered hunting the inlets of the Severn River with his father, Jim, and brother, Jim.
Over the 47 years since he was diagnosed, Art never let his disease define him. He was an incredible storyteller with a keen memory for details and could quickly share many wonderful tales of days long past. He was welcoming and genuinely interested in every person he encountered: no matter who they were or where they came from, Art would smile and ask them about their lives. A lover of nature and wildlife, Art enjoyed his beautiful gardens both in Hillsmere and in Arnold, especially the annual return of hummingbirds to his window. He was inquisitive and curious and had many artistic pursuits throughout his life, including painting and writing poetry. Most of all, Art loved every moment he spent with family and friends.
Art is survived by his wife, Regina; his two sons Alexander Wesley Brady and Eric Arthur Brady; and his sister Hope Yvonne Battista Bonnacorsi. He is predeceased by his father, James Revell Brady Sr.; mother, Doris Deale Brady; and brother James Revell Brady Jr. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 AM on September 16th, 2024 at St. John Neumann Church with a reception to follow (620 N. Bestgate Road, Annapolis, MD 21401). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Art’s name to St. Mary’s Catholic Church Ranger Rosary.
