Anthony B. Campitelli's Obituary
Anthony (Tony) B. Campitelli, 82, a 46 year resident of Millersville passed away at his home on March 8, 2014 due to complications from a stroke 5 years ago. He retired 17 years ago after a 45 year career as an Aeronautical Engineer at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. While working at NASA, he worked on the TIROS project, NOAA K Mission, STS-26, NOAA –B Launch Team, and other various weather satellites. He was born in Baltimore City attending Poly Tech High School before attending Johns Hopkins University where he played varsity soccer. He graduated with a Civil Engineering degree and later earned the Degree of Masters in Aerospace from Drexel Institute. Upon graduating he was drafted into the United States Army, 101st Airborne, and was stationed in Heidelberg/Darmstadt Germany.
He enjoyed traveling, military history, watching Johns Hopkins Lacrosse, spending his summers in Ocean City, and visiting with family. Both he and his wife were avid competitive duplicate bridge players earning their “Life Masters”, and traveling along the east coast for various tournaments.
He was survived by his wife of 48 years, Charlotte Welsh Campitelli; his two sons: Anthony J. (A.J.) Campitelli (Christina) and Jeffrey B. Campitelli(Christine); and four grandchildren: Jake, Anthony, Leo, and Caroline.
