Anna Lee Thompson's Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother, Anna Lee Brashears Thompson (affectionately known as Maw-Z and Anna Banana), on March 7, 2026, at home surrounded by her family.
Anna was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on August 27, 1935 to Benjamin Raymond Brashears and Rose Walsh Brashears. She is predeceased in death by her husband, Sidney Thompson, sister, Nancy Brashears Wells, her great grandson, Quaid Hance-Irving, her daughter, Deborah Tayman Talbert and her beloved furbaby “Walter”.
She is survived by her brother, Benjamin R. Brashears, Jr. of LaPlata, her daughters, Wanda Tayman Morgan (Randy), Linda Tayman, and Nancy Rollins (Bobby), her grandchildren, Thomas Hance, Jr., Staci Alvey, Christen Morgan, Chas Norwood, Robert Rollins, III and Jennifer Horsmon, nine great grandchildren and one great great grandson.
Anna was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Huntingtown for over 50 years where she enjoyed volunteering at various church functions. She dearly loved her Church and her Church family.
She also was a volunteer at Calvert Memorial Hospital for many years as well as Thrifty Ladies Shop in Dunkirk , Lions Club, and Seacoast Medical Center in Myrtle Beach where she resided for a short period of time. It was through her years as a volunteer that she made many life long friends whom she adored.
Some may remember her as the friendly face at Thompson’s Furniture Store on Armory Road in Prince Frederick or at Bossy’s Liquor Store in Upper Marlboro where she worked along side of her late sister, Nancy.
A celebration of life will be held on April 18, 2026, at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 1250 Emmanuel Church Road in Huntingtown. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. with a service at 12:00 p.m. followed by a luncheon in the Fellowship Hall. Internment will be private.
The family is asking that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her name to Emmanuel United Methodist Church or Hospice of the Chesapeake.
