Anna Jane Jones' Obituary
(Anna) Jane Graham Jones.
Jane Graham Jones, a retired teacher of the Prince Georges County School system, died on Friday March 9 at Anne Arundel Medical Center. She was 85 years old.
Ms. Jones was born in Washington D.C. on January 20, 1927. She grew up on North Carolina Ave. N.E. A graduate of Eastern High, she continued her education obtaining a B.S. at Texas Christian University and was a dedicated alumnus of both schools.
In 1949 she married Charles Louis Jones, also of Washington D.C. They were married 25 years.
Ms. Jones taught at Hyattsville Junior High and Nicholas Orem Junior High also in Hyattsville. After she retired, she continued working part-time at Citizens Bank of Maryland. In later years she served in many positions with the Prince Georges County Retired Teachers Association and with the Maryland State Retired Teachers Association.
She was an active member of Ninth Street Christian Church in Northeast Washington, D.C. for many years. After moving to Hyattsville, she continued her service to the Lord as a deacon, elder, and member of the Board of Directors at University Christian Church in Hyattsville over a span of 49 years. She also gave many years of diligent service to Help By Phone of Prince Georges County every Monday morning.
Survivors include three children; the Rev. Craig Jones of Downsville, MD., Kathleen Servello of Alameda, CA, and Russell Jones of Arnold, MD, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday March 17 at 10:00 AM at University Christian Church, Hyattsville, MD. Memorial donations may be made to University Christian Church, online condolences may be made at www.LastingTributesFuneralCare.com.
