Ann Therese Murray's Obituary
Ann T. Murray of Chevy Chase, MD and Annapolis, MD, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2022. Ann was born in Washington, DC., on April 25, 1926 to Charles and Eleanor Maloney. She was the fifth of eight children, all of whom predeceased her. She was devoted to her family and to Blessed Sacrament Church and Parrish where she attended school and ultimately married her husband, Joseph L.B Murray there in 1949. Her lifelong devotion to Blessed Sacrament Church was instrumental to Ann as she raised her six children: J. Burt Murray., Joanne Murray Hill, Mary T. Murray, Agnes Murray Gerland (Jeffrey), Cecelia Murray Alford and the late Thomas F. Murray (1975), in the parish. Ann is also survived by ten loving grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She was a devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great grandmother. She cherished her friends and treated them as though they were family.
She was a long-time member of Columbia Country Club. Ann spent much of her free time and summers in Bethany Beach, Delaware and in Annapolis. After spending many years as a volunteer with various catholic charities, most notably the Christ Child Society and at the ‘Op Shop’, she retired to her home in Bay Ridge, Annapolis to spend countless enjoyable hours with her children and grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to her memorial mass at 11am at Blessed Sacrament Church on Friday January 21, 2022. The family will receive visitors at 10am. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ann’s memory can be made to the Christ Child Society (5101 Wisconsin Ave. NW, Suite 102, Washington, DC 20016.)
