Ann Marylynn Mays' Obituary
Ann Marlynn Mays, 73, of Annapolis passed away on November 1, 2017, after a short hospitalization. She resided at BayWoods of Annapolis where she served on the Resident Council.
Born September 8, 1944, in Lynch, KY, she was the daughter of Marlin B. and Ruthanna Rudy Mays, who preceded her in death. She spent her formative years in West Virginia and was a graduate of Gary High School, Gary, WV. She attended West Virginia University and held both bachelor's and master's degrees in social work from WVU.
After college she resided in St. Albans, WV, and began a three decade long career as a social worker for the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources in Charleston. She specialized in assisting disabled children and their families and was recognized for her caring support for thousands of children.
During her years in the Charleston area, Ann was active in the local chapter of Beta Sigma Phi International, a women's community service sorority, and held numerous officer positions with the organization. She also was a faithful member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in St. Albans and was involved in the work of the church's women's society.
Ann is survived by her sister, Sunny Mays Schust, and brother-in-law Alex Schust of Harwood, MD.
Ann will be celebrated in a Catholic Funeral Mass on November 9, at 10:30 am, at Saint John Neuman Church at 620 N. Bestgate Road, Annapolis, MD. Her remains will be interred at Woodlawn Memorial Park at Bluewell, West Virginia.
