Ann DeHoff DiMartino's Obituary
Ann DeHoff DiMartino, 78, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2023 at Harbor Hospital after a long illness and one heck of a fight. A force to be reckoned with, Ann was born in Ft. Madison, Iowa on November 17, 1945. She was the third child of Floyd Bangert and Ruth (Ripley) Bangert.
Ann attended Ft. Madison High School until the family moved to Topeka, Kansas in October, 1961. She graduated from Topeka West High School in 1963. She met and married Ernest DeHoff in 1963 and moved to Baltimore, Maryland. They divorced in 1978.
Ann began a lifelong pursuit of education and applied it in the business world. She began as a secretary at a small, male dominated, manufacturing company where she excelled and rose to eventually run her own department. She moved on to work at BCBS of Maryland. She again worked her way to the head of her department. She often found that she was the only woman at the table in meetings, and she loved it. She was a trailblazer! In 1985, she went on to conquer the world of IT recruitment. She stayed on top of the latest technologies and made life-long friends until she retired in 2010.
She loved to collect pictures of family and friends and looked at her life, and the lives of her loved ones over and over again. She was our family historian and left her legacy of photos for us to share and enjoy. She delighted in hanging out with her grandchildren and teaching them the merits of being good losers, as she was highly competitive!
Ann is survived by her two daughters, April (DeHoff) Stup and her children, JJ, Beck and Tori Stup, and Diana DeHoff, her husband Vince Savalina, and their son, Vinnie. Also, her sister, Nancy Jane (Bangert) Shields, her husband George, and many nieces and nephews (and greats!).
Her Celebration of Life will be held at Lasting Tributes in Annapolis, MD on January 5, 2024 6-8:00 with Shared Memories and a final prayer starting at 7:00pm. Ann's final resting place will be in Ft. Madison, IA in June 2024.
