Alverta Agnes Wells' Obituary
Alverta Agnes Wells, 88, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert & Mary Wells, was born on November 16, 1933, in Annapolis, Maryland. She received her education in the public schools of Anne Arundel County.
She worked in the laundry industry in Annapolis, Maryland. She first worked for Admiral Laundry cleaners for numerous years and eventually retired. She later resumed her laundry career with Marriott Hotels for a decade before retiring.
Ms. Wells had four siblings that are no longer with us: Violetta Henriques, Lucille Jones, Mable Wells, and Robert Wells Jr. She also had one uncle, James Dobson (deceased).
Ms. Wells gave birth to ten beautiful children including: Gregory Downs (deceased), Deborah Brooks, Linda Brown, Milton Colbert, Jr. (deceased), Clarice Bridges (deceased), Valtina Blake, Horace Blake, Nora Blake, Asia Blake, & Alonzo Blake. She has two sons-in-laws: Darrell Bridges (deceased) and Kevin Brown, and three daughters-in-law: Phedocia Downs, Sheila Colbert, & Beverly Blake.
She has 14 grandchildren: Duane Downs, Tiffany Downs, Elliott Cook, Chantel Martin, Vernon Hicks Jr., Chawanna Carrington, Torone Colbert, Tyhesha Colbert, Milton Colbert III, Purnell Contee Jr., Shawnon Tydings, Sha Shona Blake, Sha Naniel Miceli, and Tijawanna Savoy.
Ms. Wells has an abundance of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Mother Wells started her religious path at the Lighthouse Apostolic Church and concluded it at Jesus Saves Family Ministries where she was a dedicated member and usher. Ms. Wells was a strong woman of faith who stood on the word of God. She loved reading the Bible and spreading the gospel to family, friends, and loved ones.
Her hobbies consisted of watching her favorite football team, The Washington Redskins, completing crossword puzzles, and listening to her favorite hymns.
