Alois "Lolly" Schorreck's Obituary
Alois (Lolly) Crowther Schorreck, 87, of Annapolis, MD, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2026. Lolly was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on February 28, 1938, to Minnie Vogts Crowther and Aloha Hare Crowther, both deceased.
After graduating from Friends School of Baltimore in 1955, Lolly went on to study physiology at Mount Holyoke College (Class of ‘59) before marrying Henry Forbush Schorreck (div. 1979). She earned her masters in science from Johns Hopkins University in 1996.
Growing up, Lolly spent her summers swimming and boating on the Severn River. When she was not on the water, she was busy excelling at field hockey, swimming, and diving both at Friends School and at Mt. Holyoke College. In her later years, she enjoyed hiking and camping in New England and Canada and was an active member of the Appalachian Mountain Club for many years.
Lolly worked at the National Institutes for Health and the law firm of Franch, Earnest, & Cowdry before finding her passion and teaching science at Severn School for 14 years.
She taught 6th and 8th grade science where she loved engaging students in Rube Goldberg challenges and taking her classes down the hill to study the Severn River ecosystem.
During her time as a science teacher, Lolly participated in an EarthWatch expedition to the Island of Mull in Scotland where she studied the habitats and ecosystems of the local birds of prey. Upon her return, she was able to incorporate her experience into lesson plans and research projects for her students.
Whether it was with Delta Kappa Gamma (Rho Chapter), P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization), Holy Trinity Episcopal School, St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, Severn School or Ginger Cove, Lolly was an active member of every community she was a part of throughout her life.
Lolly took her curiosity, humor, and love of nature with her everywhere she traveled. After college she moved to Freising, Germany, for two years as her husband was stationed at the nearby United States Air Force base. She attended the 1960 summer Olympics in Rome where she had the good fortune to be able to see Wilma Rudolph and John Thomas race. Later, her time with the Annapolis Chorale allowed her to renew her love of travel. She was able to visit various countries all over Europe, performing with various choir groups.
Lolly was a kind and gentle soul with a great sense of humor who will be greatly missed by all that knew her. She is survived by her loving family: Daughters Catherine Schorreck (Keith Fleming) and Anne Wilkerson (Bret) and grandchildren Jackson Fleming, Duncan Fleming, Wyatt Wilkerson, and Alice Wilkerson.
A Celebration of Life service will be held in the Fellowship Hall at Ginger Cove on Sunday, February 15, 2026. Gathering at 1pm, service at 1:30pm. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.
