Alicia Hussey Bourne's Obituary
Alicia Hussey Bourne, age 85, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on the evening of Wednesday, December 15th 2021. She was born December 22, 1935 in Jersey City, New Jersey to the late John Joseph Hussey and Florence McCarthy Hussey.
Growing up Alicia attended and lived at Immaculate Heart Academy in Ashland Pennsylvania and Villa Maria Academy in Malvern, Pennsylvania where her Aunt, Sr. Alice was an instructor. After High School graduation in 1952, she lived with her mother, Florence in New York City where they both worked in Lower Manhattan as administrative assistants.
She was united in marriage to Thomas Blake Bourne IV, of Millington, Maryland, on April 26, 1958, at The Church of St. Catherine of Sienna in New York City. They had six children and raised them in Washington DC, Anchorage Alaska, and Bowie, Maryland. Her husband Thomas preceded her in death on May 11, 1989, after thirty-one years of marriage.
Alicia is survived by her 6 children and their partners, 17 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren; Beau, Mary Lou, Blake (Lee Ann, Thomas, Wren), Meghan, Hannah (Mike, Henry); Peter, Dana, Grace, Greg, Robert; John, Tara, Joshua (Sara, Cameron, Eva, Kate), Jeremiah (Heather, Kamryn, Kennedy, Luka), Clare (Jamie, Wyatt, Gavin, London, Zion); Nathan (Jen, Gavin, Amelia, Rosie , Judah) Noah (Amanda, Saylor, John Asher); Rebecca (Cory, Sophia, Ellie, Juliana) Rachel, Caleb, Micah; Matthew; Molly; Flo (Kevin, Cade, James).
Alicia was the spiritual leader of her family and left a legacy of faith, kindness and charity and was an example to all who knew her. Alicia faithfully and joyfully served in many capacities as a volunteer, teacher and participant in the Parishes of Sacred Heart of Bowie, St. Michaels the Archangel of Hollidaysburg and Sacred Heart of Chestertown. She was a member of the Sacred Heart sodality, choir and a lay member of the St. Margaret of Cortona Region of the Secular Franciscan Order.
A Vigil will be held on Tuesday, December 21, at 4-7 PM., at Lasting Tributes Cremation & Funeral Care, 814 Bestgate Road in Annapolis, Maryland. The family will receive guests following the Rosary.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 22, at 10 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 508 High Street in Chestertown, MD. The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Dennis Cemetery in Galena, Maryland.
