Alice B. Sharps' Obituary
Alice Beatrice Sharps was born December 24, 1938 in Harwood to Henry Parker and Ruth Hopkins Parker and died March 13, 2017. Alice was united in matrimony to Samuel Edward Sharps, Sr. on March 28, 1959. To this union, six children were born.
Alice will be missed by her husband, Samuel Sharps, Sr.; children: Barbara Sharps-Thomas (Charles) of Millersville, Regina Sharps and Wilmagene Sharps of Harwood, Samuel Sharps, Jr. (Christina) of Annapolis, Zelda Sharps of Harwood and Craig Sharps of Glen Burnie; three grandchildren: Maurice Sellman, Samuel Sharps, III, and Camiya Sharps; and one great-grandchild, Arianna Sharps.
Alice also is survived by two brothers, Albert Parker (Della) of Annapolis and George Parker (Kim) of West River; two brothers-in-law, Dennis Sharps of Arnold and William Brown of Annapolis; two sisters-in-law, Malinda Hopkins (John) of Annapolis and Ella Meade of Arnold; her devoted and lifelong friend, Ella Sellman of Annapolis; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Alice attended Anne Arundel County Public Schools. She dedicated her life as a Jehovah’s Witness and was baptized into the faith in 1972. She spent most of her life caring for young children including nieces, nephews, cousins, and many others throughout the South County area. Besides being a beautician, her other favorite pastimes included sewing, cooking, dancing, and hosting her annual Family Day for more than forty years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Ruth Parker; three sisters: Dorothy Jacobs, Mary Tongue, and Delores Brown; and three brothers, Calvin Parker, Charles Parker, and Henry Lawrence Parker. Alice will be remembered for devotion to Jehovah, her love of family, and diagnosing medical conditions.
