Alfred Alexander Day's Obituary
ALFRED ALEXANDER DAY, 72 departed this life on September 25, 2017 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center after a brief illness. Born on November 5, 1944, he was the second child born to the late Eli Alexander Day and Mary Brown whom preceded him in death.
Affectionately known as Al, PuddyHead, and Pineapple to name a few. He was educated in the Anne Arundel Public School system, he later received his G.E.D. Alfred worked as a “Flight Runway Skycap” at Baltimore Washington Thurgood Marshall Airport, the Baltimore Sun, Alco-Gravure, Inc. and Dow Jones as a Pressman for over 35 years before retirement.
Alfred was a dear friend to everyone he met and loved to tell a story. He could tell you the most convincing tale to later find out some were all make believe or just convincing chit-chat untruths; though quite often the grandest tales were the most factual. Alfred loved to spend his quiet time in humble peace on Dorsey Road watching the planes flying in and out, or at a local park watching kids running and playing. His favorite hotspots were Hardee's, Dunkin Donut, Starbucks, and the Pop Shop, hanging with the guys, flirting and morning coffee. He networked all over, watched wrestling, football, and didn’t mind speaking his mind. One of Alfred’s side jobs, and all time favorites was being in the parking lot of Marley Station Mall, volunteering at the “Car show-“High in the 50’s”. He was never late and you didn’t get in free while he was manning the front entrance. The highlight of his days were visits from his grand-daughter “Ada”, grandson Quinton, nephew Brandon and cousin and special friend, Gary Sedgwick. They all had corny jokes, and Alfred could put you to sleep with his gift of gab. His son “Eric” was his encouragement, comforter, peacemaker and get-it-done now, son. He actually listened when Eric spoke, although some never knew that because, Alfred was the Dad (boss) and Eric was the son.
Alfred leaves to cherish his memory, two sons, Alfred Day, Jr., (Stephanie) Eric Alexander Day (Bernadette). One brother, Lewis “Mooney” Day(Gaile), Six sisters, Gerrie Bailey, Laverne Day, Janice Queen, Margaret Fields (Robert), Maenell Barnett (Steve), the late Gaile Walker. One Sister-In-Law, Gaile Day, Two Brother-in-laws, Robert Fields (Margaret) Steve Barnett (Maenell). Four grandchildren, Alexander James Day, Ada Elise Day, Quentin Alfred Day, Step-grandchild, Cameron Alexander Day, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, friends (Jack Stephan and Jenny) and a special cousin and friend to the end, Gary Sedgwick.
