Adrian Elliott Blake's Obituary
Adrian Elliot Blake, whom we loving call Chubby, was born October 2, 1955 to James Purnell Blake, Sr. and Geraldine Brooks (Offer). As an infant, he was left in the care of his father's grandparents, Percy and Edith Blake who loved, cherished and spoiled him.
Upon the death of his great grandmother, his father's sister, Mary Blake Parker and her husband Melvin Parker became his surrogate parents, their children became his sisters and his beloved Poppa was always acknowledged as his father figure. Chubby loved his biological parents and siblings and always made an effort to bond and maintain relationships with them.
Chubby’s death leaves a void in the life of all of us who know and love him. He was not difficult or complex. He was a kind, loving, forgiving, helpful, respectful and friendly person: sometimes to his own hurt. He loved old movies and tv shows, especially westerns.
Chubby leaves behind to mourn, yet cherish his memory, his surrogate mother Mary Blake Parker, his biological mother Geraldine Offer (Robert), siblings Regina Graves-Riggs (Llowell), Francina Smith, (Russell) Cynthia Neal (Tyrone), Gail Medley (Raleigh), James Blake, Jr. (Kim), Sherry Sharps (Delbert), Karen Moulden, Tina Sellman, Ronnie Offer(Sherry), Robert Offer, Jr.(Darlene), Fonda Brown, David Offer; Lucinda Spearman (James), and sister in law Jacqueline Turner, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He loved to work, and he was blessed to work with great people who genuinely cared about him. The family gratefully acknowledges his close friends and coworkers Dean Adams, Charmaine Butler-Waters, Angela Bailey, Kenny Naylor, and Troy Williams for their patience, kindness and love.
His good friend Charmaine described Chubby both beautifully and perfectly when she wrote…”Adrian is a unique person. He had a heart bigger than his whole body. He would do anything for anybody and with a smile. Rest on, our hearts are heavy with filling the void that you leave, but I know we will see you again.”
