Abby did mountains of Love and support for me particularly in my teen years when I was seen as very rebellious by my parents. One thing that Abby taught me then was that both people in an argument could actually be correct. This really shed a fountain of light and reinforcement when I really needed support from someone.
Early on in life when visiting Maine with our two families, Ethan and I went for a canoe ride ( my first) and his Mom swam out beside us. Somewhere in the middle of the lake Abby called back to us to say that the first thing that I needed to learn out there was what to do when the canoe capsized; which she made happen in a surprising and upsetting way, with the boat completely turned over.
Much of who and how I am came about because of her strong and kind guidance.
I may not have made it until I was 20 without Abby.
One of the best times was when I started giving Abby massages. That she let me share with her and helped me to understand that this was a special gift that I had from God! I now earn some needed income from massage.
Writing this just now, helped me to realize that it was Abby who with her family helped me find the Quaker way; something that has shaped my entire life!
Maybe I will just have to write a story about Abby, as I could go on for quite a while about all that she shared with me.
She had a calm dignity that made her saint like; particularly in her later years.
I will always Love you Abby!
Thank you God for Friends we meet,
Thank you God for food we eat,
Thank you God for songs to sing,
Thank you God for Everything!
