Obituary for DuAnne C. Chrisman

The family of DuAnne C. Kelley Chrisman, 66, “Dewi”, is broken hearted to announce her death on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at Glen Burnie, Md. after an ongoing struggle with multiple chronic health issues. She was born in Baltimore, Md. on December 6, 1961 and was adopted by Hilda and Leroy Kelley. She was an only child and was primarily raised in Cape Arthur where she later returned with her family. She enjoyed dancing, roller skating, horseback riding and the Magothy River. She was quite a proficient pool player. Dewi was also a loyal sports fan who cheered the local Orioles and Ravens teams. She was interested in crafts and would crochet afghans and complete other needlework projects to gift to others. As a teenager she was frequently seen escorting her best girlfriends are out around town in her pinkish beige, pushbutton Dodge, which was fondly named “The Dirgible”. She was a stone rock ‘n roller and only listened to classic rock. She could be found every weekend at a local teen dance – Carrollton Manor, St. Margarets and West Severna Park. She graduated from Severna Park High School in 1969 and then enjoyed a long career with the Department of Defense as an Army Financial Subject Matter Expert (SME). Following her federal retirement, she continued to work as a private contractor in the defense industry and only recently retired. Dewi was always adventurous and considered life as a highway that she would travel on her own terms. Even with her physical struggles she maintained a fierce independence. She loved the ocean and tried to vacation at Ocean City every year with family or friends. She was also a compassionate animal lover and was always ready to defend their rights. Dewi was known to be big hearted and generous and considered most everyone her friend. She was the “second Mom” to many of her sons’ friends and always ready to lend an ear or offer advice. She often opened up her home to others who needed support and encouragement, as well as a place to stay. She leaves to grieve her passing her two beloved sons David, of Baltimore, and Richard (Melissa) Chrisman, of Crownsville, a Grandson, Isaiah, her ex-husband, Jerry (Maria) and many friends. Her two kitties, Gizmo and Peanut also mourn her loss. We know DuAnne has reunited with her cherished 1966 navy blue Ford Mustang and has returned to the spirit in the sky. Out of sight, but not out of mind, we will miss her.
