Marie was funny, kind, gifted with her crotchet, Avon sales skill, and humble. I remember her as my colleague from CUA. She was down to earth and friendly. I miss her and pray for her and her family often because she was a God sent and was herself. Her laughter was contagious and she got her work done. She loved her family and spoke with love about her Son during his high school years. In her eyes, she knew Will was becoming a man, but her tone always sound like a Mom who remembers holding Will as an infant. She loved her husband and always blushed when she spoke about him. Mrs Shepherd was such an amazing women. She was one of our patients but became family. I loved her will to fight and always having such a generous heart. When I went out on maternity leave she sent me a care package with soup and dinner for a few days. She also made a baby blanket for baby Xavier I am going to miss her so much! She touched so many heart while her time was spent on this earth! She may be gone but she will never be forgotten! Love you Mrs Shepherd!

Marie and I used to share the great memories we had of growing up together. While she was my niece, we were only a few years apart in age but spent so much time together when we were little. It is so hard to believe that she is gone. We used to meet in DC for lunches to catch up on things and I will miss those great moments together. She was one of a kind who always seemed to find a way to bring a smile to everyone. I am so blessed that we had our great times together.

Marie was a sweet, gentle soul I met in high school. We always kept in touch throughout the years even though we hadn't seen each other since her baby shower. I will miss our conversations and cheery gifts to each other. She was a strong woman to endure so much but kept her faith. May God bless John and Will and comfort the entire family. Darlene

Our children grow in our womb; but when born they grow in our heart. when my daughter Marie left this earth part of my heart went with her. Her loss will always be with me until we meet again in heaven. I know now she is out of pain and with all of our lives one's who have passed on. God has a special soul in heaven.

Marie, A wonderful person, caring personality, great friend and Coworker. My favorite memories are our times watching old classic movies, Christmas movies anytime of the year and keeping up with the latest season of OUTLANDER. Our lunch hours would be the highlight of our day. Marie will be greatly missed.

I will miss my long time friend. From high school besties, to college roommates, marriages, motherhood, and even though we lived a distance away from each other and time would pass us by for periods of time; we were always there for each other and kept our connection. Marie was always genuinely happy to hear from me and I felt the same about her. I am praying that she is now at peace and in a better place. She sure put up a courageous five year battle. I met John at IUP. We worked at the cafeteria together. Our common tastes in music and reading helped to create a strong friendship. I remember that after they met, John and Marie were always together. They complimented one another. We ended up living in Maryland after graduation. I needed a place and they needed a trustworthy apartment mate. We lived through the Gulf War, the rise and fall of Millie Vanillie (sp), and a lot of football. Marie was a special young woman. I can’t imagine John going through those years with anyone else. When I got married, Marie made us an Afghan that lived on our couch as long as we were married. Sadly, life and distance kept us separated for many years. Marie has always held a place in my heart and will continue to do so, right next to her husband John. We were all blessed to know her.
