Katherine was my escort in her later years in her career at NSA. I just learned recently of her death as I only go there 3-4 times a year, but have been going for almost 10 years. I am sad that I did not get to see her before she went home. She was special to me, I hope she knows that. Rest in peach Katherine. Maureen
How well I remember taking Katherine to the top of Pike’s Peak, (14,115 feet). She went against my precautionary advice, up the winding Cog Railway, with wonder in her eyes, and those of my grandson, Bryan, at each turn in the ascent. Once at the top she expressed, quite breathlessly, her thankfulness for just being there at her age and with the health problems she had at that time. “What a beautiful view! It’s like you can see forever!” We spent an hour doing what tourists do, and eating BIG ice cream cones as we enjoyed a flawless, sunny day! I will never forget how happy she was. Truly an American moment for her as she had much love for her country, friends and also my family. Among others, she was intrinsically bound to my children, Karen, (Bryan’s Mom), Robert, Ken, and Greg – and of course, she lavished much time, energy and money on making sure that they were exposed to the Arts and Culture of the USA. Bryan has seen more Broadway shows than I will ever see. As my friend, I could always count on Katherine to tell me so many interesting tidbits of information that she gleaned through her busy social life. She is not someone I will ever forget. Rest In Peace dear friend. Katherine was a beautiful lady we shared many conversations and meals together she was a fascinating lady full of life. Dear friend you hold a special place in my heart and you will be missed.

For my sister, Myra, and myself, Katherine was truly our Auntie Mame. She took us to our first Broadway show and instilled a love of live theater in us for life, bought us the huge fishbowl of ice cream at the Gifford's ice cream parlor in DC, instructed us that we didn't have to make the beds in motels, and opened our eyes to a whole world that was out there waiting. As teenagers, we stood in total awe of her. Reconnecting during our later years was a fabulous experience, whether in Baltimore, Oklahoma or Minnesota. I will always treasure our decadent "Terrill" breakfasts of toasted baguettes, tons of butter (unsalted of course) and lots of conversations and memories, both good and bad.
Rest well my dear cousin, friend and soulmate. Hope the breakfasts in heaven match ours! Love and miss you always.
Katherine was a great friend to me and everyone that she met in her life. Working with her at NSA was lots of fun with many laughs. Long talks on the phone to pass the time of day. She will be missed. Jacquelyn Debar.
