Steven Alan Lagana

June 28, 1950 - November 15, 2021

Steven Alan Lagana passed from a life of kindness after a very short but courageous battle with cancer on November 15, 2021. He was born in Washington DC on June 28, 1950 to the late Leo Lagana and Mary T. (Navarro) Lagana. Steve graduated in 1968 from Suitland High School. He was a volunteer fireman in Boulevard Heights and worked professionally as a truck driver for Marriott Distribution. Later, Steve worked with his wife, Mary, at International Builders and Winmar Construction, in Washington DC, as a superintendent. He retired from Winmar in July 2016 to sunny Florida. Steve was a lifelong Redskins fan and an avid baseball and Washington Nationals enthusiast. He was also fond of Frank Zappa and had an extensive collection of Zappa albums. Steve enjoyed spending time with his family, eating together, and was known for being fun-loving, especially when ice cream was involved! Steve is survived by his wife, Mary Lee Lagana; daughters Regina McDaniel and Dawn McDaniel; grandson Christopher (Glenna) McDaniel; great-granddaughter “Stevie” Quinn and a special great-niece Zya Savage. He has one surviving brother Leo Michael Lagana. He was preceded in death by his brothers Anthony (Betty) Lagana and Ronald (Linda) Lagana. Steve is loved by many including his nephews Ronald (Jill) Lagana, Thomas (Jennifer) Lagana, and Anthony Lagana Jr.; nieces Elaine (Mark) Moxly, Kimberly (Dan) Miller, Mary T. (Billy) Lynch, and Kristy Lee Kendall; a host of great-nieces and great-nephews, as well as extended family members and friends. Please join us for a celebration of Steve’s life at Lasting Tributes, 814 Bestgate Road, Annapolis, MD 21401. Visitation begins at 11 o’clock am, followed by a service at 12 o’clock noon, on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children's Hospital in memory of Steve. www.stjude.org/donate
