Obituary for Nicholas Peter Rauseo

Nicholas Peter Rauseo,87, died peacefully in the early morning of Saturday, April 7th. His wife Louise and daughter Diane were with him. His granddaughter Abby says it best: “God saw he was getting tired, although Nick Rauseo would never admit it...the Lord decided it was time and took him home to rest.”

Nick was born on June 2, 1930 at Malden Hospital to the late Joseph Rauseo and Cinderella (Posata). He had one brother and three sisters. He grew up in Malden Massachusetts and attended Boston Trade School. He played football and basketball and played in the drum and bugle corp. He began working at an early age to help support the family. He sold newspapers in Malden Square, shined shoes,delivered groceries, was a pin setter at a candlestick bowling alley, and worked in the extensive family garden and store.

He joined the Air Force in 1950 and served at Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne, Wyoming where he met his beloved wife Eva Louise. They married in March of 1956. He worked as an electrical engineer for various companies in Denver, Huntsville, and Annapolis, where he eventually settled. He graduated from University of Maryland University College in 1981 and worked for Naval Air Command until he retired in 1993. A passionate supporter of Catholic social teachings, he volunteered at Transfiguration Catholic Community, in Baltimore. He was a member of The Pilgrim Community and St. Andrew by the Bay and participated in St. Andrew's Peace and Justice group. He also volunteered his many handyman services at Annunciation House in El Paso, Texas.

He is survived by his wife Louise; daughters Diane Rauseo and Theresa Burtis; daughters in law, Doris Jasperson and Bettie Toppi; son-in-law and buddy Jay Burtis; brother Joe Rauseo; sisters Connie Fallon and Norma Morris; brother-in law David Morris; grand children Cieanna, Joleen, Abby, Luke, Eve, Nicholas, Elena, and Henry; and great grandchildren Brandon, Brianna, Anderson, Erickson, Bella, Braxton, and Eli.

He is preceded in death by his two sons, Stephen and Joseph, his sister Mary, and his grandson Andrew.

Family and friends may visit from 2-4 and 6-8 on Monday, April 16th at Lasting Tributes 814 Bestgate Road Annapolis, MD 21401. A funeral Mass will be held on April 17th at 10am at St Andrew by the Bay, 701 College Parkway Annapolis, MD 21409 The family invites you to continue the celebration of his life immediately following the Mass at Unity By the Bay Church 4 Pointless Forest Trail Annapolis, MD 21409.
