Marybell Simms

Marybell Simms was born November 29, 1923, and departed this life on Friday, May 15, 2020, at the age of 96. Marybell was born and raised in Annapolis, Maryland and was preceded in death by her Father and Mother; Charles and Rosie Simms. Marybell was educated in the Anne Arundel County public school systems and was a member of First Baptist Church of Annapolis; where she was baptized at a young age. She was a believer of God and ensured that her family was rooted and grounded in the word of God. She worked as a Laundry Attendant at the U.S. Naval Academy and retired on January 5, 1989. Marybell was a strong and independent woman and raised six beautiful children with the support of her parents. Marybell dedicated her life to ensuring that her children were well cared for. She believed in the unity of family and not only did she raise her children but went on to assist in the upbringing of several generations. Marybell Simms was a pillar in her family and will forever be missed. Marybell was preceded in death by her daughter Lucille Coates (Sissy), her 3 brothers; David Simms (Mary Simms), Charles Simms Jr., and Samuel Simms (Lucille Simms). She leaves to cherish her memories; Two siblings; Elizabeth Simms and Nina Mae Simms; 5 children, James Harris (Maryland Harris), Sylvia Hawkins (Duane Hawkins) and Sharon White, all of Annapolis, Diane Jordan (Bernice Jordan) and Henrietta Gee both of North Carolina; 14 grandchildren; 36 great-great grandchildren; and 7 great-great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and a special friend of the family, Bernadette Pruitt.
