Kathleen Reid

October 5, 1948 - March 12, 2022

Kathleen Mary Reid, 73, of Annapolis, Maryland passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2022, in her home under the care of immediate family and hospice after battling emphysema for many years. Born in Washington DC on October 5, 1948, to Charles and Rita McGrath, both of whom served in the United States Navy and moved their family in service around areas of the world. They lived in the Philippines, Turkey, and England before settling in Riverdale, MD. Kathy started her career as a general manager and talented saleswoman at Capital Beauty Supply in Capital Heights where she worked for over 30 years. She transitioned into home health care, working for Springdale Center in La Plata. She was a loving caregiver for over 10 years. Kathy was hard-working and built many lasting friendships through her work. She was awarded top saleswoman for Loreal and won a trip to vacation in Paris. She and her late husband Mike raised their three children in Severna Park, MD where they lived happily for 25 years. In 2004 they built their dream home on 20 acres of beautiful land in Prince Frederick, MD and lived there for 14 years. After Mike passed away, Kathy moved to Annapolis where she lived for the final 4 years of her life. Kathy had a vibrant personality and loved spending time with family and friends. Kathy enjoyed going to the theatre, shopping, and lunch outings with close friends. She had many friends and loved being on-the-go! Kathy was passionate about home decorating and enjoyed shopping for antiques. She was a generous person and loved celebrating the holidays. She loved animals and spoiled her cat named Rascal with lots of attention and tasty treats. Kathy was caring and fun-loving, and we will genuinely treasure our memories of her. We will miss her greatly but will keep her alive in our hearts. Kathy is survived by her daughter’s Candace, Tamara, her son Michael, and her brothers Dennis, James, Brian, and their families. Kathy also leaves behind four adored Grandchildren named Elijah, Jace, Angeline and Gavin. A gathering will be held to honor her memory on Friday March 18th at Lasting Tributes Funeral Home in Annapolis, MD from 4-7pm and a funeral mass at St. John the Evangelist in Severna Park, MD on Saturday March 19th at 1:30pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Kathy’s memory to The American Lung Association: https://action.lung.org/site/Donation2?df_id=31272&mfc_pref=T&31272.donation=form1
