Jean T. Paquin

April 8, 1936 - February 15, 2022

Jean Tretton Paquin, 85, of Annapolis, Maryland, formerly of Bowie, Maryland where she raised her family, passed away on February 15, 2022. Born to James and Alice Tretton of Pawtucket Rhode Island in 1936, thirteen years after James, Alice and Jean’s beloved sister, Mary, emigrated to the U.S. from Lancashire, England. Jean married the love of her life, the late Philip L. Paquin in 1957 at Saint Maria Goretti Catholic Church in Pawtucket. Jean and Phil started a family in New England before moving to Bowie in August 1963 where they continued to expand their family and raise their children. Jean’s life then was solely dedicated to being a wonderful mother to her 5 children. Mrs. Paquin graduated from the University of Maryland May 22, 1977 with a Business and Management Bachelor of Science degree which she was very proud to accomplish, all while raising her children. As her children grew, Jean was able to follow some of her other passions in life, travel being primary among them. Jean journeyed to six of the world’s seven continents, always with Phil faithfully by her side. Jean was a fabulous baker and was famous for her desserts that she served at every family occasion. Jean was the heart and soul of every family gathering, always hosting all of her ever-growing family at her home. Jean was organizer, coordinator and the hostess with endless energy ensuring all had a wonderful time. Jean was proud to have worked in the Interior Design industry in Washington D.C. after her children were grown. Jean also enjoyed her time volunteering for a number of charities in Washington. Jean will be remembered by her friends for her beautiful letters –an old-fashioned talent that touched many. Mrs. Paquin is survived by her five children, Eric (Krista) Paquin, Gabrielle (Lawrence) Emmerich, Marie Louise (Ronald) Lear, Philip L. (Tracy) Paquin Jr, and Risa (Drew) Hudson. Jean’s legacy also includes 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Her family mourns her passing with deep sorrow as they have lost their matriarch (mom, granma, and great-granma). Be safe on your travels. A memorial service is planned for the future.
