A.M. "Mick" Thistle

December 14, 1933 - January 24, 2022

A.M. “Mick” Thistle, 88, beloved husband, and best friend of Paula died in Christ on January 24, 2022. Born on December 14, 1933 in Knoxville, Tennessee to Archibald Thistle and Iris Karen Hagen Thistle, Mick was the older brother to sisters Kay and Sue. His early years were spent in Tennessee and the grandeur of the Great Smokies. Then the family moved to southern California. With pride he served his country in the United States Navy, serving as an Air Traffic Controller. Then he completed schooling and earned degrees in Mechanical Engineering from UCLA and Management Sciences from UMD. Settling in Annapolis. Mick served the State of Maryland as a financial administrator with the Maryland Dept of Natural Resources. Mick also gave of his talents serving as treasurer of his church, his synod, and the church’s prison ministry. He managed a personal tax service for 35 years. Through the years Mick and his wife Paula were blessed with travel opportunities that took them to five continents and left them many beautiful memories. Together with friends they shared wonderful moments. With all his gifts and talents, Mick remained a humble man. He was first-and-foremost a husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and a friend to so many. He was preceded in death by his sister Kay and his son Mike. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, February 5th at 11 am at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church, 1120 Spa Road, Annapolis, MD. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Martin’s Lutheran Church Endowment Fund or to the Delaware-Maryland Synod of the ELCA.
