Rick and I were long time friends at Siemens, from the time I started in 1994 until I left in 2009.
We worked so many jobs at NIH on the electronic & pneumatic control systems. He got tired of the fitter work after awhile and we worked together to get him trained up on the electronics. Eventually he successfully transitioned to a systems engineer. He Eventually left Siemens for a position at the Smithsonian... funny how that goes.. I left the Smithsonian to come to Siemens... we basically swapped jobs after about 15 years. We had some grand times together and I will miss him alot.
On behalf of the Smithsonian Institution Office of Facilities Management South Mall Zone, where Rick thrived and performed in rare form for over 12 years, I send humble and sincere condolences to Rick's family, friends and associates who are shocked and dismayed at the untimely departure of such a good and caring man. Rick was a rock, widely respected, universally appreciated, heavily relied upon, dependable as the ocean tide that he loved so much. He leaves a long trail of great accomplishments in some of the most well known, world class museums on the face of the planet. He is missed beyond measure.
