Obituary for Nancy Ann Curry

NANCY ANN CURRY | October 31, 1950 – July 1, 2018 | Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Nancy “Handy Nan” Curry announces her passing after a battle with cancer, on July 1, at the age of 67 years.

Nancy will be lovingly remembered by her sister, Gwyn Tober; brother-in-law, Allan Tober; nephews Jeff Tober and Glenn Tober and their wives, Tammy Tober and Beth Tober; and her great nieces and nephews, Sandy, Grant, Lindsey, and Alex. She will also be lovingly remembered by her Aunt Mary Demers, and her many cousins and extended family in New Jersey, Canada, and Florida and her long time friend, Maryanna Cain.

Nancy was predeceased by her mother, Jeanette Curry Osborne and father, James Hines Curry.

Nancy approached everything in her life with zeal and tremendous love. She was a generous spirit, had incredibly strong faith, and never stopped smiling, even throughout her last days.

She was devoted to her family, friends, and clients and never missed an opportunity to celebrate that love and devotion with a glittery heartfelt poster, infectious laugh, and her signature finger-cheek pop.

Nancy lived and worked in three areas of the country; Florida, Michigan, and Maryland gathering many close friends and church ties throughout the years. In Florida, where she grew up, she graduated from high school and earned an AA degree in business. She went on to become an airline flight attendant, traveling throughout the country. She enjoyed collecting sea shells from every beach she visited and amassed a very large collection.

She moved to Michigan worked for General Motors as an electronic specialist. She then became Certified as a Medical Assistant and worked at the hospital in Anne Arbor. While in Michigan, she loved her many cookouts and horseshoe games with close friends.

In 1995, Nancy moved to Maryland to be close to family and worked for many years with a doctor she admired at Anne Arundel Urology. She formed close bonds, comforted patients and parents, and organized and color-coded the office. She later went out on her own and started her Handy Nan Cleaning company, stripping wall paper, painting, cleaning, and preparing houses for sale.

Throughout her life, Nancy’s faith was the mainstay of her life and as her life came to a close, she was comforted and looked forward to being united with God and family and friends who preceded her in death.

In her spirit of faith and love, the family invites you to join them for a Celebration of Nancy’s life that will be held at 1pm, on Saturday, July 28th, at CrossPoint Church, 365 Jones Station Road, Arnold, MD 21012, with Pastor Ed O’Mara presiding.
