Obituary for Lisa Raughley Smith

Lisa Raughley Smith of Halethorpe, MD passed away on April 3, 2018 at the Gilchrest Hospice Center, Towson, MD. She was 52.

Born in Easton, MD on January 20, 1966, Lisa was the daughter of Brent and Linda Cummings Raughley. She graduated from Easton High School in 1984 and Salisbury University in 1990 with a Bachelor’s Degree.

Lisa began working part time in high school at the Crab Claw in St. Michaels and continued in the restaurant business throughout college working in Salisbury, Ocean City and later becoming manager at Phillips in Baltimore. She later began what would become a career in sales, working with The Butcher Company covering the area of Richmond and later Massachusetts. The company was then sold to Johnson Wax, returning Lisa to the Baltimore market. She later went to Fitch Company in Baltimore and left to advance her career with S.C. Johnson Professionals as Territory Manager for many years thereafter.

On May 27, 2007 she married Tim Smith and made their home together in Halethorpe, MD.

Lisa is remembered by the one’s she touched for her happy, kind and generous nature. She had the ability to connect with everyone and make them welcome. She was noticed for her generosity and big heart. Lisa introduced her friends to favorite places and taught everyone the ‘correct’ way to eat crabs. When Lisa was there, fun and laughter were sure to follow. She was always right in the middle – singing and dancing.

To Lisa, life was a big adventure and she lived her life for better and sometimes for worse right up until the very last moment. She’s that feeling of dancing in your bare feet, driving a tiny bit too fast with the windows down and the radio blasting - pure joy and happiness. She remained a constant in everyone’s life and was the kind of friend that distance could not limit

She also had a commitment to living her life on her own terms. She showed strength and courage by relocating to give a new job a try and encouraged her friends to go after their dreams. Regardless of how things worked out, she picked herself up by her bootstraps and went running off after the next opportunity. She never backed down from a challenge or left a friend in need. She stayed Lisa throughout her life and ended up with the life she wanted with no regrets: married to her best friend, surrounded by people she loved and who loved her.

Lisa is survived by her parents, Brent and Linda Raughley; husband, Timothy Smith; sister, Kim Eglseder (Ludy); and her niece and nephews: Brandon Morgan, Kristin Morgan, Cory Morgan, Sarah Eglseder and Aaron Eglseder.
